The History Of The Pasteis de Nata #GBBO #2017
Paul Hollywoods technical challenge saw the contestants make the 'Pasties De Nata!'
Now we think it's fair to say these little custard tart are a firm favourite for many of us! And we should know, they fly off our markets and we love them just as much as you guys.
So, here's a little bit of history. The Portuguse custard tart was orginally created by monks in a monastery in the district of Belem!
Legend has it that following the closure of the monasteries in Portugal in 1834, a monk from the Heironymite Monasery began selling these little cups of sunshine. #THANKYOU!
Now the original recipe still stays a closely guarded secret BUT we're pretty sure ours are just as good :)
Check out our markets page for a complete list of where you can find us.
